Borussia Dortmund Chase Newcastle United Striker As Robert Lewandowski Replacement

Senegalese star on Dortmund’s radar.

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse as they search for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker is widely tipped to be leaving the Champions League finalists this summer, and has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old has been the club’s top scorer for the last two seasons, and they are understandably keen to find a replacement for the talented goal-poacher.

Having already been linked with the likes of Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and Porto’s Jackson Martinez, the Daily Mirror now claims that Dortmund see Newcastle’s Cisse as a good option to aid their striker worries.

The 27-year-old has not had the best season at St James’ Park this year, following a fantastic run of form since joining the club last January for £9million from Bundesliga side Freiburg.

Still, he has 13 goals and has shown the ability to score spectacular strikes on occasion, and could be available after Newcastle have suffered a poor season fighting relegation.

A number of other big names have also been linked away from the Magpies this summer, such as Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa.
