Chelsea Turn To Napoli Striker Edinson Cavani After Missing Out On Radamel Falcao

Napoli striker lined up by Chelsea.

Chelsea have turned their attention to Napoli striker Edinson Cavani after their main target Radamel Falcao seems set to join Monaco.

The Blues are in desperate need of a new striker due to the indifferent form of Demba Ba and Fernando Torres, the latter of whom could be sold this summer after a disappointing time in his three seasons at Stamford Bridge.

According to talkSPORT, Cavani is now Chelsea’s main target, and the tall and powerful Uruguayan would be an ideal replacement for the legendary Didier Drogba, who left the club at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old has scored 37 goals for Napoli this season, and is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

However, Chelsea could be in the driving seat to land the talented front-man, with a fee of £42.5million reportedly being agreed between the two clubs.

The news will please incoming Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who had made a striker one of his priorities in the transfer market if he returned to Stamford Bridge this summer. Robert Lewandowski was also linked, but the Borussia Dortmund striker looks set to join Bayern Munich.
