Swansea City captain quiet on future.
Swansea City defender Ashley Williams claims he knows nothing about interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium for much of the season, after being in fine form for Michael Laudrup’s side, and leading them to glory in the Capital One Cup.
Arsenal and Liverpool have shown the strongest interest, after both have identified the need to strengthen their defence this summer, but Williams claims he has not heard any more than what has been said in the newspapers.
“I don’t know anything about it,” said the Swans captain. “I just read it in the papers like everyone else.
“I play my football for Swansea City and now I’m just going away and looking forward to a holiday.”
The Welsh centre-back added that he hasn’t given a move much thought, though he admits he does take interest from bigger clubs as a compliment.
“I’ve said before, I’ll take it as a compliment, it means you’re doing your job well,” he said. “I’ve done that this time, I haven’t looked too far into it.”
Swansea’s impressive season will undoubtedly also lead to speculation over the future of the likes of star striker Michu and goalkeeper Michel Vorm, as well as manager Michael Laudrup.
