Tottenham target will not come cheap, say Wigan.
Tottenham will have to pay £15million to Wigan for their highly-rated midfielder James McCarthy, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 22-year-old has impressed for the Latics this season, attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea as well as Spurs, despite being unable to help Wigan avoid the drop.
McCarthy was also a key performer in the club’s shock FA Cup win over Manchester City, and Spurs are keen on bringing him in to replace the ageing Scott Parker, whom they are happy to sell to Queens Park Rangers.
The Irishman is one of a few Wigan players being eyed up by bigger clubs following their drop to the Championship, and they could also lose Franco Di Santo and Callum McManaman, as well as their manager Roberto Martinez.
In fact, it has even been rumoured that Martinez will look to sign McCarthy for Everton if he chooses to take over from David Moyes at Goodison Park.
Spurs have a number of other targets as they look to improve on their fifth place finish next season.
