West Brom goalkeeper praises departing loan star.
West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster says Chelsea would be mad to offload Romelu Lukaku this summer, after the striker went out with a bang in his final game on loan for the Baggies.
The 20-year-old hit a fantasic second half hat trick to help his side to an incredible 5-5 draw with champions Manchester United, capping a successful season of first team football with Steve Clarke’s side.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper told the Daily Mail that he believes Lukaku is exactly the kind of player Chelsea need right now, despite rumours suggesting that he is set for another season out on loan next year.
West Ham, Fulham and Swansea have been linked with the Belgian, and Foster doubts that he will come back to the Hawthorns next season.
“There’s no way he’s coming back here next season,” he said. “Chelsea would be fools to let him come back with the way their forward line is mis-firing.
“He is exactly what they need at the minute.”
Despite Lukaku’s fine form and comparisons to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, the Blues are tipped to dip into the transfer market again this summer in a bid to replace the faltering Fernando Torres, finding themselves linked with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.
