Defensive ace wants his teammate to partner him next season.
Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has urged his central defensive partner Fabricio Coloccini to stay at the club beyond the summer, Sky Sports reports.
The Argentinian international has been linked with a move back to San Lorenzo since January after complaining of homesickness and yesterday it was revealed that the club’s president Matias Lammens would be flying to England for talks with Newcastle chiefs about taking him off their hands.
However, Coloccini’s defensive partner Steven Taylor is hoping the the 31-year-old can be persuaded to stay on for a little longer.
“The lads love playing with him and we hope he stays. He’s a very quiet guy, but when he speaks, he speaks very well,” he said.
“Colo and I have had a great partnership over the past few seasons. We have a good understanding. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We seem to be able to mix it up.
“He’s very composed and he’s not shy of a tackle as well. He’s been great a guy in training. You can learn a lot from him.
“I’ve got a fantastic partnership with him, and hopefully that will continue.”
Magpies boss Alan Pardew is also hoping to keep a hold of his captain as he looks to avoid another season hovering above the drop zone.
