Stamford Bridge side target powerful Zenit front-man.
French sources today claim that incoming Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has set his sights on signing Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk as he sets about improving the Blues attacking options.
Though Hulk has struggled for form since his move to Russia there is no denying his ability to make an impact at the highest level and any pursuit of the former FC Porto man could well be aided by the links between Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Zenit.
The powerful 26 year old saw his first season result in Zenit losing the Russian Premier League title they had successfully claimed for the two previous campaigns and Hulk managed to net an average seven goals from his 16 appearances and may well be tempted by a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
With Fernando Torres failing to score regularly in the Premier League and Demba Ba still yet to get into his stride at the West London club there is certainly scope for a striking addition.
Loaned out Belgian Romalu Lukaku proved a massive success at West Brom but as yet it’s unclear how big a role he will play at Chelsea next season.
Prior to his move to Russia Hulk has been a huge success at Mourinho’s former club FC Porto, where he netted 78 goals in four a bit seasons, helping the Estadio Dragao side to four domestic titles and a Europa League success among a host of honours.
This source claims that Mourinho sees Hulk as a priority signing this summer and seemingly one Chelsea could pull off.
