Chelsea Winger Set for Lyon Move

Former side set to rescue Malouda from Chelsea nightmare.

Florent Malouda is set to end his Chelsea nightmare next month when his £80,000 a week deal comes to a close and could return to his former club Lyon, according to The Sun.

The 32-year-old wide man was frozen out by the club last May and hasn’t made a single appearance this season as he has been forced to train with the under-21 squad as his refusal to take a dip in wages scuppered his chances of sealing a loan move away in January.

However, with his current deal expiring next month he is free to talk to clubs in an attempt to get his career back on track and former club Lyon are reportedly running the rule over bringing him back to the Stade Gerland.

“I had a problem to sort out with certain people. It’s done. Now, I’m free,” he said.

“I’m going to be able to play again next season and I cannot wait.

“I’ve been preparing all year long. I’ll be back next season.”

The French international spent a successful four years with Lyon between 2003-07 where he won four French league titles and three Trophee Des Champions victories. He made nearly 200 appearances during this time, scoring 32 goals.
