Midfield ace promises to be a star man next season.
Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has promised the club’s fans that they will see the best of him next season after a disappointing first campaign at The Etihad, The Sun reports.
The 22-year-old has managed to make just 15 appearances for City since joining from Everton last summer for a fee of £12 million after a series of hamstring injuries have impacted his input.
However, a strong ending to the season saw him bag two goals against Norwich on the final day, which was quickly followed up by the inclusion into Roy Hodgson’s England side to face the Republic of Ireland and he has vowed to prove himself next season after the summer break.
“I have a lot to prove to City fans, as they haven’t seen the best of me yet, so I’m excited about that,” he said.
“I’ll have to be getting up before the missus while I’m on honeymoon so I can get my work out of the way then enjoy the rest of the day.
“I’ll be doing something most days, even the day before the wedding – I can’t go back in rusty.
“It’s a new chapter for me, and coming back for pre-season will be a fresh start – almost like a new career.”
