Geoffrey Kondogbia refuses to rule out summer transfer away from Sevilla.
Despite signing a 5 year deal at the start of last season for Sevilla, Geoffrey Kondogbia has recently been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City.
Having only completed 1 year of his current contract, the 20-year-old has sparked speculation that he could leave Sevilla by refusing to rule out a move towards a bigger club in search of European football next term. The Frenchman told Onda Cero Radio:
“I have four years left of my contract, but you never know”
It is speculated that Real Madrid are also in the mix in the battle to sign the Defensive Midfielder, and when asked about them, Kondogbia said:
“My goal is to finish the season and continue at Sevilla. What do I think of Madrid? I like Madrid, as I like other clubs. But I am happy at Sevilla.”
Kondogbia has been a stand out player this season in La Liga and on a personal level has enjoyed a terrific first season in the Spanish top tier, although his club currently sit 9th in the table. Regardless of how they fare in their last game of the season, the Southern Spanish side will not be playing European football next time round.
This has further fuelled speculation that Kondogbia is open to a move away from his club, in an effort to continue in the form that has won him so many plaudits and made him a coveted target for Europe’s elite.
