Reds join chase for young Chelsea striker.
The future of young Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been thrown into further question following his being linked to Liverpool by the Birmingham Mail.
The 20-year-old enjoyed an impressive time on loan with West Brom this season, scoring 17 goals in the Premier League, leading the Baggies to hope they could sign him for another season.
The Belgian seems unlikely to be part of Chelsea’s first team plans next season, though his performances have attracted attention from many other clubs, with Liverpool now joining the likes of West Ham, Swansea and Borussia Dortmund in the race for the former Anderlecht man.
The Reds could be in need of extra firepower upfront this summer, with star striker Luis Suarez being strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, though it is not clear if the Blues will accept anything other than loan offers for Lukaku this summer.
The strong and pacey forward has been compared with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, and they may still feel he has a chance in the team in the future, and will not be keen to sell him to a rival.
Liverpool and Chelsea have done a fair bit of business in recent years though, with big names such as Fernando Torres, Daniel Sturridge and Yossi Benayoun moving between the two clubs.
