Garde insists star players will stay put.
Lyon coach Remi Garde has warned Arsenal that his star players Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier will not be leaving the club this summer, Sky Sports reports.
The former Arsenal defender has enjoyed a close relationship with Arsene Wenger ever since joining the Gunners as a player in 1996 but has warned him that his best players will be going nowhere as the French side look to re-establsih themselves as a major force in Europe again.
Wenger has been linked with moves for Gonalons and Grenier for several months now, but Garde insisted that they won’t be sold.
“There are stories about some players leaving the club. The last few years we have won the Coupe de France and finished third in the league.
“Am I keen to accept the transfer of Gonalons and Grenier? No, because they are exactly in our project and I want to build the team around them. If Grenier achieved such a level it is because he has worked so hard.
“We have been much more demanding with him like all our young players. But, he convinced everyone, he did everything to be at the core of our project in the coming years.”
