Rafa Bentiez is looking to add Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen to his Napoli side.
Thomas Vermaelen could be on his way to Italy to join Rafa Benitez’s new side Napoli, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Belgian had a disappointing season for Arsenal and lost his place at the heart of the Gunners defence to Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, meaning the North London side may cash in on their current club captain.
Benitez is looking to strengthen his defence and believes that Vermaelen is an ideal candidate.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss is also said to be interested in Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel but will look into Vermaelen’s availability before looking into any other alternatives.
After losing his place, Vermaelen fears for his Arsenal future but he is in no rush to leave the Gunners, recently distancing himself from the rumours of a move away for the Emirates.
The Belgian is willing to stay and fight for his place.
