Manchester City to compete with Premier League rivals for Frenchman.
Manchester City will compete with Arsenal and Manchester United for the signing of Valencia defender Adil Rami this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The French centre-back has been mentioned as one of Arsenal’s main transfer targets this summer, as he could be available on the cheap due to his desire to leave the club.
The 27-year-old, also watched by Manchester United, is hoping to earn a move to a bigger team to boost his chances of being first choice in central defence for the French national team at next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
It is now thought that City will swoop in with an offer, as new boss Manuel Pellegrini looks to make a number of raids on the Spanish league that he knows so well from his long stay in Spain with Villareal, Real Madrid and Malaga.
Rami may struggle to establish himself as a starter at City, with Vincent Kompany and Mateja Nastasic the current first-choice pairing, though he has admitted he would like a new challenge.
He has been quoted as saying on French radio: “I want to try something new.
“I have two-years left on my contract, but if there is an interesting offer I could leave Valencia. My desire is to find a bigger club.”
Jesus Navas and Isco are also widely expected to move to the Etihad Stadium from La Liga this summer.
