Stopper hopes to see compatriot arrive this summer.
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibault Courtois has spoken of his desire to see his fellow countryman and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke fill the gap left by Radamel Falcao, Sky Sports reports.
The Colombian hitman finally put an end to his long running transfer saga last week be linking up with French moneybags Monaco and the Spaniards are now seeking a replacement for the powerful forward.
They have been linked with a number of high profile goal getters and Benteke’s name has been mentioned several times after an impressive season in the West Midlands saw him bag 19 goals in his maiden campaign in the Premier League, and fellow Belgian international Courtois believes he will be a “great signing”.
“He’s a very strong centre-forward, tall, but with very good technique and skilful with the ball at his feet,” he said.
“I think that he could be a great signing for Atletico. During these days with the national team I’m going to ask him about his future.”
I know him well, we played together when we were young. Benteke is a player who has worked hard, he left Genk and had several loans spells that has helped him grow.
“He had a sensational 2011/12 season with Genk and that led to the attention from the Premier League.”
