Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has quickly become the subject of much speculation as it seems the Bosnian is likely to be targeted by Chelsea this summer.
According to Sky Sports, a sustained run of bets has seen the odds of the move happening falling rapidly from 20/1 to 8/11, suggesting that the 27-year-old will likely be Chelsea’s first signing of the summer.
Dzeko has struggled to establish himself at City since joining from Wolsburg in 2011, though he has shown moments of quality and goal-getting ability. Still, his link with Chelsea will come as a surprise given some of the other big-name targets being linked with the club following Jose Mourinho’s high-profile return as manager.
The Portuguese boss, who only just left Real Madrid to take over at Stamford Bridge, has been reportedly eyeing up the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Edinson Cavani, with Dzeko thought to be a player City would look to offload to the likes of Napoli and Fiorentina.
However, Mourinho’s preference for tall target man strikers such as Dzeko could push this move through, although it remains to be seen if City will want to sell him to a fellow title rival.
Dzeko has scored 40 goals in 106 appearances for Manchester City.
