West Ham See Ambitious £14.5m Bid For Sevilla Striker Alvaro Negredo Rejected

Hammers fail in bid to land Spaniard.

West Ham have seen a £14.5million bid for Spanish international striker Alvaro Negredo rejected by his club Sevilla, according to Sky Sports.

The La Liga side have just confirmed the big-money sale of another star player Jesus Navas to Manchester City, and claim they are under no pressure to sell another of their in-demand stars.

Negredo has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Atletico Madrid, before West Ham emerged as surprise suitors for the 27-year-old.

One of the most lethal strikers in La Liga, Negredo scored 31 times for Sevilla this season, and has previously hinted that he would like to leave the club for a new challenge in English football, meaning he could still end up at a Premier League side this season, though it is more likely that one of the top six would be his destination rather than Upton Park.

Sevilla presdient Jose Maria Del Nido said: “West Ham offered 17m euros in cash with more in incentives but we do not value the offer and the player refused.”

West Ham are keen to land a striker though, as they continue to be locked in talks with Liverpool’s Andy Carroll, who just finished a successful loan spell with the club, but whom they want to join on a permanent deal.
