Turkish international set to stay in Madrid.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan is set to disappoint a host of Premier League clubs by committing his future to the Spanish giants, Sky Sports reports.
The 26-year-old had said recently that he would like to test himself in the English top flight with Chelsea and Liverpool both keeping tabs on him this summer.
A number of other top European sides had also been linked with making a bid for him over the coming months, but he has moved himself away from the speculation be claiming that he is happy to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
The successful league and domestic cup campaign has seen the Madrid side secure Champions League football for next term and the Turkish international has been persuaded to stay by the promise of elite European football.
“I am going to stay with Atletico,” he said.
“I cried for five minutes after the final game of the season because it was like being in another dimension,” he continued.
“It was impossible to stop the tears. This team fought with spirit, blood and faith.”
Atletico toppled cross city rivals Real 2-1 in the Copa Del Rey final last month and managed to wrap up a third placed finish in the league.
