Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony could be set to turn his back on a move to the Premier League in favour of a switch to Portuguese giants Benfica instead, talkSPORT reports.

Bony has long been on the radars of the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool after bagging an astonishing 31 goals in 30 appearances for the Eredivise side this season and is expected to make a big money move away from Vitesse this summer.

However, none of those Premier League sides have made a move yet and their reluctance could be set to open the doors for Benfica to make theirs after being put on high alert by his goalscoring exploits.

Benfica are set for a summer overhaul of their squad after suffering one of the most heartbreaking campaigns of recent years.

They finished one point behind rivals Porto in the Portuguese league, lost the Europa League final to Chelsea in the last minute and also lost their domestic cup competition to Vitória de Guimarães.

And because of that, to prevent something similar happening again, coach Jorge Jesus has targeted the Ivorian international as the man to fire in the goals and ensure that they finish the jobs they start next term.
