Maurone Fellaini could be on his way to North London after Arsenal offered a club record £22 million for the Belgian midfielder according to Goal.com.

Arsenal made the bid on the day that Roberto Martinez was officially confirmed as Everton’s new manager.

Fellaini has a clause in his contract that states when a top four club bids £22 million for the player, Everton have to accept the bid.

The fee is reportedly £24 million for teams outside the top four.

Arsenal believe that they can wrap up the deal for Fellaini in the next few weeks.

With Arsenal bidding for the Belgian, other teams who are in interested in the midfielder may now come forward and submit bids.

Manchester United and Chelsea were thought to be front runners for the Belgian but Arsenal have got in ahead of them.

It will be interesting to see where Fellaini ends up should the other clubs interested in the midfielder make bids.

Chelsea have long been interested in Fellani and former Everton boss David Moyes is now Manchester United manager.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright knows he is powerless in keeping Fellani at Everton if clubs activate his release clause but has pledged to give Roberto Martinez the proceeds if Fellani does move away from the club.
