Moyes desperate to bring Spanish star to Old Trafford.
Manchester United are preparing to go head to head with Arsenal to sign Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas according to The Sun.
The Spanish midfielder joined the Catalan giants from Arsenal in 2011 in a £35 million deal but has struggled to establish himself in the first team since then.
Fabregas’ chances of first team football are likely to be further diminished next season following the arrival of Brazilian wonderkid Neymar at the club and it is thought that Fabregas may well be open to a move with next summer’s World Cup tournament just around the corner.
There are likely to be no shortage of suitors for Fabregas but currently United and Arsenal appear to be leading the chase for his signature.
Arsenal are keen to bring Fabregas back to the club and have first refusal on him should he be sold, but United are ready to blow the Gunners out of the water with a £40 million bid.
Moyes is keen to bring in a new centre midfielder to Old Trafford following Paul Scholes’ retirement, the inconsistent form of Anderson and the continued injury problems faced by Darren Fletcher. The Scotsman has reportedly made Fabregas his number one summer target and the United board are ready to back Moyes with significant funds in pursuit of that goal.
