Villa to keep hold of talented youngster.
Aston Villa look set to be handed the boost that in-demand youngster Andreas Weimann will commit his future to the club by signing a new contract, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The 21-year-old has had an impressive season at Villa Park, despite the club’s fight against relegation, forming a fine partnership with Christian Benteke, another Villa player who has been linked with a move away.
However, despite interest from Liverpool and Newcastle, Weimann now seems happy to stay with the club and will accept a pay rise to commit to another three years with Paul Lambert’s side.
The Austrian scored 12 goals in all competitions for Aston Villa this season and established himself as a real favourite with the club’s fans, and his contract renewal will be a welcome boost as they look to progress upwards in the Premier League table next season.
The next step for Lambert will be to persuade Benteke from rejecting offers from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, after the Belgian found some phenomenal form for the club since arriving as a relative unknown from Genk last summer.
