Wigan striker undecided after Everton link.
Wigan Athletic striker is still unsure as to what the future may hold for him after attracting attention from Everton, Sky Sports reports.
The Ivorian hitman is expected to be just one of a number of Wigan players tipped to make an instant return to the Premier League following the club’s relegation to the second tier.
His 11 goals in the league last season gave the Latics a fighting chance but ultimately proved fruitless, however, new Everton manager Roberto Martinez is said to be interested in bringing him to Merseyside, though no official approach has been made yet.
Kone is currently away on international duty but he is aware of the link to his former manager, and whilst he is flattered he has admitted that rocking the boat to earn a move is out of the question.
“I have a contract until 2015 with Wigan and I settled very well there. It is a brilliant community football club. The chairman is fantastic,” he said.
“Yes, I want to be playing in the Premier League but it also depends on Wigan because I have a contract with them.
“Everton? Just because the gaffer is in charge makes the link stronger but, to be honest, I don’t know what will happen. After the international games I will know more.”
