Despite the marquee signing of Neymar last month, Barcelona are not yet happy with their business in the transfer market this summer according to Marca.

Signing a centre back is seen as a top priority by Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova but the club are currently struggling to find a player who fits the bill, with clubs putting a “Barca premium” on top of any player the Catalan club are interested in.

Many at Barcelona still remember the drubbing they received at the hands of Bayern Munich in the semi finals of the Champions League and in truth the clubs defence has been leaky since first choice centre back Carlos Puyol started having problems with injury.

Puyol is coming back to fitness but at 35, doubts still remain about whether he will be as effective at the heart of Barca’s defence.

So signing a central defender is crucial for Barca this summer but they are being thwarted at every turn.

The club has been linked with moves for Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany and Chelsea defender David Luiz.

Kompany wishes to stay at City this season and Barca are struggling to agree a fee with Chelsea for Luiz.

Barcelona will continue their search and hope they get a break with one of their targets soon.
