Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has given a big hint that he could be set for a move to the Premier League after expressing the opinion that Spanish football may not suit him.

The Uruguayan has been linked strongly with Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid, though the English duo will now be the main contenders to fight it out for his signature, according to Sky Sports.

Asked about a possible move to Real Madrid, he said: “I don’t know if Spanish football suits me.

“Football there is wonderful as everyone knows, you have more freedom, but I don’t know what will happen.”

The 26-year-old has proven a big hit in Serie A, scoring 104 goals in 138 games for Italian side Napoli, and is likely to leave for around £54million this summer, though no other Italian teams seem to be in the running for him.

A move to Chelsea currently seems the most likely possibility for Cavani, as he admitted it would be a pleasure to work with Blues manager Jose Mourinho, though a transfer is still far from being finalised.

Real Madrid will likely step up their interest in Liverpool star Luis Suarez following the news that Cavani is unlikely to choose a move to La Liga.
