Premier League new boys Hull City have made their first signing of the summer by landing Maynor Figueroa from Wigan Athletic, according to Sky Sports.

The 30-year-old is out of contract with the FA Cup winners, but has decided not to stay on following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Figueroa has been with the Latics since 2008 when he signed on for two separate loan spells before agreeing a permanent deal from Honduran side Olimpia.

It had been rumoured that a number of clubs had been interested in snapping up the one time Arsenal target but he has decided to link up with Steve Bruce yet again. Bruce was in charge at Wigan when he first joined the club in 2008 and he has managed to convince him to join up with him again in Yorkshire.

The powerful left-footer can fill in in a number of positions and will add some much needed Premier League experience to the Tigers squad. Primarily a centre back, he is renowned for his long throw in ability as well as a proficiency from corners and free kicks.

He has made over 200 appearances for Wigan during his five year spell there, scoring three goals and has earned the bulk of his 95 international caps whilst playing in England.
