White Hart Lane side target Corinthians star.
Tottenham have reportedly made a move for Corinthians midfielder Paulinho according to the Evening Standard.
Andre Villas-Boas has set his sights on the Brazilian international after advances to sign Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin amounted to nothing, with the Serie A side demanding more for the Colombian than the White Hart Lane side were willing to pay.
Chelsea are known to have pursued 24 year old goal-scoring midfielder Paulinho in the past and Ukraine side Shakhtar Donestk were thought to be keen on the Brazilian but having signed Gremio’s Fernando Tottenham may well now lead the chase.
Corinthians have demanded that any interested party must trigger the player’s £17m buy-out clause to land Paulinho, a fee that the North London side may be willing to fork out.
This source believes moves for Paulinho could be with a view to replacing Scott Parker though in truth the two players are of differing styles.
Paulinho is into his fourth season at Sao Paulo side Corinthians and in that period has helped the club to Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa Libertadores, FIFA Club World Cup, Campeonato Paulista successes, scoring 34 goals in 167 appearances.
