New Liverpool signing Iago Aspas has said that he will be his own man while playing for Liverpool after being compared to one of the clubs current strikers Luis Suarez.

Goal.com reports that Aspas has insisted that he is not like Suarez and will play his way.

Aspas was signed earlier this week from Celta Vigo for £7 million, just as want away striker Luis Suarez departs for the Confederations Cup with a huge cloud hanging over his future at Anfield.

Liverpool’s new signing has a fiery temper but is also highly skilful.

The temper has got him into trouble before, he received a 4 match ban for head-butting Carlos Marcena, leading to comparisons with Liverpool’s other controversial striker.

However, Aspas has rejected the comparison with Suarez.

“Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am going there to take an important step in my career, not to be a replacement for anyone,” said Aspas.

The signing of Aspas will give Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers cover up front with England striker Daniel Sturridge set to miss the start of next season through injury.

Suarez’s future also continues to be in doubt with Real Madrid heavily linked with the striker and reports have suggested that they are preparing a £40 million bid.
