Tottenham are set to face competition for the hugely experienced striker.
Tottenham target David Villa is interested in a move to Italy according to the strikers agent, with Fiorentina said to be about to make an £11 million bid for the Spaniard.
The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs have already opened talks with Barcelona about signing Villa but Fiorentina look set to enter into negotiations with Barca over a double swoop for Villa and Jonathan Dos Santos.
Villa’s agent Victor Onate said: “If he does leave Barca, we are looking for an important project that will allow him to play at a high level. England or Italy makes no difference, as long as the project is good”.
Villa is thought to be one of Spurs top transfer targets this summer, with manager Andre Villas-Boas identifying Villa as the man to score the goals that will push Spurs into a place in the Premier League’s top four.
However, the interest from Fiorentina will be unwelcome and may make Spurs move more quickly to acquire Villa, who is understood to be interested in playing in the Premier League.
One possible drawback for Spurs is that they can’t offer Villa Champions League football next season and the Spaniard is known to want to play in that competition regularly.
