Chelsea ‘Agree £49.3m Deal’ to Sign Napoli Striker Edinson Cavani According to Italian Source

Stamford Bridge side joined by Manchester United as late entrants in race for striker’s signature.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed terms on a deal for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani according to The Daily Mail.

The Uruguayan striker is currently one of the hottest properties in football after a scintillating season in Napoli which saw him finish the campaign as top scorer in Serie A and guide Napoli to second place in the league.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of the world’s top clubs reported to be ready to splash the cash on the player’s signature.

The player has reportedly claimed that he would prefer a move to the Spanish league, suggesting that Real Madrid were favourites for his signature but it now appears that Chelsea could be in a position to secure his services.

It appears that Real Madrid have been largely focused on their attempts to sign Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, allowing Chelsea to sneak in and agree a deal.

It is being reported that Cavani could arrive at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £49.5 million. It remains to be seen though whether the forward will agree the move or instead wait to see if Madrid come in for him.

Manchester United are reportedly also considering making a late approach for the player.
