White Hart Lane move imminent.
Corinthians star Paulinhohas bid a tearful farewell to his Brazilian side whilst confirming his imminent move to join Tottenham during a press conference tonight according to GloboSporte.
The 24 year old midfielder has reportedly completed a €20m (£17m) move to White Hart Lane and the confirmation of such a deal had only been held up due to the player’s involvement in the Confederations Cup.
Andre Villas-Boas has been chasing the goal-scoring midfielder for some months and has finally won the race to sign the Brazilian international, who was played a prominent role in Felipe Scolari side’s triumph at the Confederations Cup, scoring twice in the tournament.
Paulinho was reportedly in tears during the press conference to announce his departure and was at pains to promise he would be back at the club in the future.
The excellent Sport Witness confirms that Sao Paulo based side Corinthians would receive around half the fee, with the rest being paid to an investment firm that owns a significant portion of the player.
Villas-Boas will have to find room in the centre of his midfield for Paulinho but may be looking to pair the box to box performer with fellow countryman Sandro with Belgian Moussa Dembele in a slightly more advanced role.
