Exclusive: Arsenal Hope to Sign £56m Quartet by the End of the Week

Arsene Wenger is hopeful of completing a move to bring in Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar in the next few days and has already opened official talks with the QPR custodian as Super Hoops owner Tony Fernandes seeks to trim his massive wage bill as soon as possible.

To this end QPR have already managed to offload the club’s top earner Christopher Samba and will accept as little as £1.5m for Cesar, who is back in London following the Confederations Cup.

The former Inter Milan man performed relatively well at QPR last term, despite the club’s relegation to the Championship, and a number of other sides are said to be keen on the 33 year old but Cesar is said to be very keen on a move to Arsenal where he will challenge Pole Wojciech Szczesny for the first team starting berth.

Prior to his move to West London Cesar enjoyed seven seasons at the San Siro, winning five Serie A titles and a Champions League winners medal.
