Emirates Stadium continue to chase Goodison Park star.
Arsenal will look to step-up efforts to land Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini by offering the Toffees a combined cash plus player deal for the Belgian according to SportsDirectNews.
Arsene Wenger is hoping to strengthen his midfield and will be acutely aware that the Goodison Park star could not only help add a further goal-scoring outlet to his side but also would provide some much needed steel to a side that certainly lacks bite in the centre of the park.
The 25 year old has stated previously that he feels that a move to a more defensively minded role could better suit his game and Arsenal have still to adequately replace Alex Song, who left for Barcelona last summer. Wenger may be keen to play Fellaini alongside his former team-mate Arteta, with Jack Wilshere in a slightly advanced role but thus far has not been willing to place a bid that would trigger the former Standard Liege man’s release clause.
Indeed this source believes that rather than fork out £24m for Fellaini the Arsenal boss is ready to offer Welsh international Aaron Ramsey plus £17m in a bid that could just interest newly installed Everton boss Roberto Martinez.
There could be a sense that the Merseyside club are resigned to losing Fellaini and the option to accept a money plus player offer may be more appealing than a straight cash offer which would leave Everton having to then actively pursue a replacement.
Ramsey, though something of a bit part player, had a fairly good season last term though arguably is still a player who is to fulfill his potential.
The former Cardiff City midfielder was considered one of the hottest prospects of his generation but has somewhat flattered to deceive though the 22 year old certainly showed signs of maturing into a more effective performer in 2012/13, during which he made a total of 47 appearances of which 19 were from the bench.
