The best custodians in the English top tier.

5. Asmir Begovic, Stoke City

Begovic has played an integral part in Stoke City’s progression and survival in the Premier League in recent seasons, and has attracted the interest of some of the league’s top clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal. His aerial presence and top drawer handling & reflexes has put him at the top of his field. The only main-stake in Stoke’s defensive set-up, without him, they would’ve been relegated a long time ago. Regard as one of the best in the league at what he does, Begovic has experienced the highs and lows at Stoke, and is ready for a strong challenge.

4. David De Gea, Manchester United

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper experienced a rocky start to his Manchester United career, losing his place to backup keeper Anders Lindergaard multiple times during his two year spell at the club, but he appears to be coming of age, and maturing into a truly world class keeper. De Gea has clearly worked on his presence in the box and handling skills, his one true weakness earlier on, so they match the levels of his reflexes and shot stopping ability, to which he is probably one of the bst around at. Linked with a move back to Spain with Real Madrid, United face a tough ask to retain one of Europe’s brightest young stoppers.

The fundamental piece to the Chelsea jigsaw which saw them seal back-to-back European trophies. One of the few original Jose Mourinho signings left at the club, Cech has been an inspiration to many young stars as to how you stay at the top level for long periods of time. Keeping out impreccable young keeper Thibaut Courtois from the Chelsea line up is proof of what a player Cech, arguably the most consistent Premier League goalkeeper over the past five years or so. At only 31, Cech still has a lot of years left in him to continue playing at such a high level.

England’s number one is one of the most rounded keepers in all of world football, and was fundamental to Manchester City’s Premier League success thus far. Possessing skills aerially and at ground level, Hart is up there with Casillas as one of the best keepers around.

Since joining the club last summer, Lloris has taken the league by storm with his unusual style of goalkeeping mostly seen in continental Europe. Linked with Arsenal prior to his move from Lyon, Lloris was at first a little shaky in his play, but has developed into the league’s best. Playing a high line, almost sweeper-esque position, Lloris truly personifies the last man, and last line of defence.
