20 Transfer Deals That Could Be Completed This Summer

There have been many deals done and dusted already in this transfer window, here are many more we believe could be sewn up before the window slams shut.

Business in the transfer window is in full swing with several big names set to switch clubs this summer for multi-million pound deals. Their has been a lot of transfer activity during July and their promises to be even more between now and September. Here are 20 transfer deals that will probably be completed this summer

Peter Odemwingie- West Bromwich Albion to Crystal Palace

Odemwingie has been out of favour at West Brom ever since he tried to force his way out of the club in January. The striker turned up at Loftus Road to try and push through a transfer to QPR but couldn’t achieve his aim before the transfer window closed. Since then, Odemwingie has found himself on the bench at the Hawthorns and is public enemy number one in the eyes of the Baggies supporters. The striker looks set to finally end his nightmare at West Brom this summer and his most likely destination is a move to newly promoted Crystal Palace. The clubs manager, Ian Holloway, is desperate to strengthen his attacking options and sees Odemwingie as the man to score the goals that will keep Palace in the Premier League. Palace are reportedly in negotiations with West Brom about bringing Odemwingie to Selhurst Park so the striker may finally end his unhappy spell at the Hawthorns.

Yohan Cabaye- Newcastle United to Paris St Germain

Cabaye is regarded as one of the best midfielders currently playing in the Premier League and had an excellent season for the Magpies during the 2011/2012 campaign. Although Cabaye wasn’t as effective during the 2012/2013 season, he is still regarded highly in England’s top flight. Despite his success at Newcastle, Cabaye could depart St James’s Park this summer, with the player keen to play Champions League football. A move back to France is his most likely option with French Champions Paris St Germain preparing to bring the midfielder back to France. Reports suggest that PSG will offer Newcastle around £20 million for the midfielder, an offer that would be hard to turn down. PSG’s French rivals AS Monaco are also thought to be interested in signing Cabaye and are preparing their own bid. Monaco have spent big this summer already by signing Falcao from Atletico Madrid and Porto pair James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho and the club could look to land Cabaye in another big money deal. The midfielder also recently stated his admiration for Manchester United and the Red Devils could make a move for the Frenchman if their bid for Cesc Fabregas falls through.

Leandro Damiao- Internacional to Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have been linked with a move for Damiao, with reports suggesting that the North London club have been tracking the striker for the best part of two years. The club were close to signing Damiao in January but couldn’t agree terms with Internacional, leaving manager Andre Villas-Boas frustrated. The club are back for Damiao this summer however, with AVB desperate to add attacking talent to his squad this summer. Spurs struggled to score goals last season and fell agonisingly short of a Champions League place. AVB won’t allow that to happen again and is insisting that the club sign two quality strikers. Damiao is thought to be one of his main targets and the striker looks ready to move to Europe at last, following many of his countrymen who now play away from Brazil. It was thought that Damiao wanted to be at a club that was in the Champions League but refused to rule out a move to Spurs earlier in the summer. AVB will hope that they can finally land a player who has been on the clubs radar for a very long time.

Cesc Fabregas- Barcelona to Manchester United

New Manchester United manager David Moyes desperately wants to sign a quality central midfielder this summer and he has identified Fabregas as his number one target. United’s central midfield has been an area of weakness for the club for sometime and Moyes is eager to sign a quality creative midfielder that will replace the recently retired Paul Scholes. The club have made a formal approach for Fabregas, offering Barcelona £26 million for the midfielder and will go higher if they need to. Fabregas has spent most of the summer stating that he wants to stay at Barcelona but reports suggest that in private the midfielder is considering a move to Old Trafford. Fabregas has struggled to break into the Barcelona first team since his move from Arsenal two years ago and is getting frustrated at the lack of opportunities for him to play in his favoured position. Things will be increasingly difficult for Fabregas next season as Barcelona have recently signed Neymar for £48 million, increasing the competition for places at the Nou Camp. Fabregas would be assured of a starting place at Old Trafford and he will need to be starting next season if he wants to be on the plane to Brazil with Spain for next summers World Cup. It may come down to how much Barcelona want to keep him and if the club do accept an offer from United, Fabregas may well be playing his football at Old Trafford next season.

Demba Ba- Chelsea to West Ham

Ba has had a very short spell at Chelsea, only signing for the club in the January transfer window. The striker has had some success at Stamford Bridge, scoring some wonderful goals, most notably in the FA Cup semi final against Manchester City. However, with Jose Mourinho returning to Chelsea this summer, Ba’s time at the club could well be up. Mourinho wants to sign a quality striker this summer to push Chelsea up towards the top of the Premier League table, meaning their won’t be many opportunities for Ba to play in the first team next season. For a player who was playing regularly at Newcastle, sitting on the bench will be very difficult to take for Ba. The striker will probably leave the club and his most likely destination is thought to be a move to West Ham. Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is looking for a striker to partner Andy Carroll up front and he has identified Ba as the perfect player to play alongside Carroll. However, Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are reportedly also interested and could offer Ba wages well in excess of what West Ham could offer him.

Gonzalo Higuain- Real Madrid to Napoli

Higuain has been an ever present member of Real Madrid’s squad for many years now and has a reputation as one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers. The player announced his intention to leave the Spanish giants after the clubs final league game of the season, saying he was looking for a new challenge. At the time, Higuain named Juventus as a possible destination but the Italian Champions interest his reportedly waned. Then Arsenal looked to be front-runners in the race to sign Higuain but talks over a move have stalled and the Gunners interest has moved onto Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. Now it seems that Higuain’s most likely destination is with Serie A runners-up Napoli. The Italain club are looking for a striker to replace Edinson Cavani who moved to Paris St Germain for £55 million. Napoli have plenty to spend now that they have sold Cavani and are willing to pay the £22 million that Real Madrid are demanding. Higuain was interested in a move to Italy and although it is not Juventus that he will be moving to he could become a great success at Napoli.

Victor Moses- Chelsea to Everton

Moses has only spent one season at Stamford Bridge and he could already be out of the door at the club. The winger struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Blues first team, falling behind Eden Hazard in the clubs pecking order. Moses is ambitious and would want to stay at Stamford Bridge but that may now not be option, with Jose Mourinho looking to trim his squad before the new season begins. A move to Everton for Moses seems likely now, with new Toffees manager Roberto Martinez looking to bring his former player to Goodison Park. Moses played under Martinez while the two were together at Wigan and the pair struck up a good relationship during their time together. Should Moses move to Everton, he would probably get a starting spot in Martinez side and that will give him a great opportunity to regain his best form that was lost some what when he was stuck on the bench at Chelsea.

Marquinhos- Roma to Paris St Germain

Marquinhos is regarded as one of the best young defenders in world football, having established himself at the heart of Roma’s defence at the tender age of 19. The defender has wowed everyone at the Italian club since his move from Corinthians last summer but Roma’s fans aren’t the only people to have taken notice of the talented Brazilian. Several top European clubs have been tracking Marquinhos, with Paris St Germain said to be front runners. Reports suggest that the defender has already agreed personal terms with the French club and all that needs to happen is for the two clubs to agree a fee. Marquinhos will be latest big money addition to the PSG squad and new manager Laurent Blanc will look to partner the 19 year old with another Brazilian, Thiago Silva. Silva is highly experienced when it comes to European football and Marquinhos could learn a lot from playing alongside his fellow countryman. Clubs like Barcelona and Manchester United will be disappointed to have missed out on one of the best young talents in world football at the moment.

Thiago Silva- Paris St Germain to Barcelona

Silva has had an excellent debut season at Paris St Germain but that hasn’t stopped speculation surrounding his future at the French Champions. Reports have suggested that Silva is still a target for Barcelona after the Spanish Champions failed to sign the Brazilian last summer. Silva choose to move to PSG over Barca, something which was a shock to many fans and pundits. However, this summer reports have suggested that Silva is unsettled in the French capital and is considering his future. One of the main reasons for Silva choosing PSG over Barcelona was the presence of Carlo Ancelotti at the French club. Now, Ancelotti has departed PSG for Real Madrid, leaving Silva upset at the departure of the Italian. Barcelona see Silva as the answer to their defensive problems and will make a move for the defender if he agrees to lower his wage demands. Silva has also described playing for Barcelona as a “dream” and that dream could become a reality if the Spanish Champions manage to persuade PSG to part with one of their best and most important players.

Luis Suarez- Liverpool to Arsenal

The saga involving Luis Suarez future has been dominating the back pages of most newspapers ever since the end of last season. Suarez was banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a Premier League game and he has since stated his desire to leave Liverpool, finally admitting that the reason for his desire to leave is that he wants to play in the Champions League. He has spent most of the summer flirting with Spanish giants Real Madrid and a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is believed to his preferred option. However, reports suggest that Madrid will only pay Liverpool £25 million for Suarez, well below the Reds valuation of the striker. Liverpool are demanding that interested clubs pay £40 million for Suarez, with the club stating that they will not even consider a bid that doesn’t meet their valuation. With Real Madrid not willing to pay £40 million, Arsenal have moved into pole position to sign the striker, with manager Arsene Wenger seeing Suarez as the perfect player to base his next great Arsenal team around.  The Gunners could be ready to pay Liverpool their £40 million valuation and Suarez has already said that he is flattered to be linked with a move to the Emirates.

Roberto Soldado- Valencia to Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are desperate to sign quality strikers this summer but have been frustrated in their pursuit so far, with David Villa choosing Atletico Madrid over Spurs and Christen Benteke deciding to stay at Aston Villa. Manager Andre Villas-Boas has now turned his attentions to Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, who was in prolific form for the Spanish club during last season. Soldado is regarded as one of Spanish footballs best strikers and has been a huge figure for Valencia. The Spanish club don’t want to let their star player leave this summer but they are suffering financially and have to take every opportunity to make some money. Spurs are thought to have made two bids for Soldado, their last one being around £20 million. Valencia are holding out for around £30 million, which Spurs are unlikely to pay but the two clubs could end up reaching an agreement that is beneficial to both. Andre Villas-Boas will hope that Spurs problems signing strikers will end when they acquire Soldado later on in the summer.

Daniele De Rossi- Roma to Chelsea

De Rossi has been regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world for many years now and in that time he has rejected many clubs who have tried to sign him. That might be different this summer though following a difficult season at Roma. The midfielder fell out badly with the clubs former manager and lost his starting place in Roma’s first team, something very alien to him considering that he has been the first name on Roma’s team sheet for many years. De Rossi has been linked with a move to the Premier League before, with Manchester City coming close to signing the Italian last summer and now he could finally make a move to England’s top flight, with Chelsea wanting to bring the player to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of De Rossi and has tried to sign him twice before, when he was manager of Inter Milan and then Real Madrid. It could be third time lucky for Mourinho following De Rossi’s difficult season at Roma, with the player interested in linking up with Mourinho. Roma to are thought to be willing to let their star player leave, having recently signed Kevin Strootman as a replacement. Mourinho will hope to use De Rossi as the centre piece of his new midfield and the chances are that De Rossi will be at Stamford Bridge next season.

Wayne Rooney- Manchester United to Chelsea

Rooney’s falling out with Manchester United’s hierarchy has been well documented, with the striker almost certain to leave Old Trafford this summer. The striker is thought to be unhappy at the comments made by manager David Moyes about him being second choice behind Robin Van Persie and feels that he has nothing to prove having spent nine years at the Red Devils. With Rooney set to leave United this summer, many top European clubs have been cueing up to try and sign the England international but interestingly, the strikers most likely destination is Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho thought to be desperate to bring the striker to Chelsea. Mourinho has confirmed that Rooney is his only transfer target this summer and the Blues have reportedly already made a £20 million bid for the striker. United rejected Chelsea’s bid but the Blues look set to return to Old Trafford with an improved offer. The Red Devils have repeatedly stated that they will not sell Rooney but should the striker submit a transfer request, United maybe forced to consider Chelsea’s newest offer.

Christen Eriksen- Ajax to Liverpool

Eriksen is regarded as one of the brightest midfield talents in European football at the moment and has been linked with a number of clubs over the last couple of years. However, he has stayed at Ajax and has flourished under the guidance of manager Frank De Boer. This summer, the midfielder could be departing the Netherlands though, with Liverpool thought to be front runners in the race to sign the Dane. Eriksen only has one year remaining on his current contract at Ajax and there appears little chance that the midfielder will sign a new deal. Many people are also saying that it is time that Eriksen left Ajax and played in a higher league and that maybe exactly what Eriksen does. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Eriksen many times and Brendan Rodgers may now step up his interest in the 21 year old. Liverpool’s style of play would certainly suit Eriksen and Rodgers is looking for a top quality player that can push the Reds towards the Premier League’s top four. Eriksen could be available for around £15 million but Liverpool must be careful, as other sides such as AC Milan are also tracking the midfielder.

Ezequiel Garay- Benfica to Manchester United

Another area that Manchester United manager David Moyes wants to enforce in the clubs first team is in central defence. The Red Devils first choice centre back pairing of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are getting older and struggling with injuries, meaning they have been unavailable for large parts of the last two seasons. Ferdinand recently signed a one year contract extension at United, meaning he will stay at Old Trafford for at least another year, but Moyes has to start thinking about replacing those two fantastic centre backs. One name that United have repeatedly been linked with is Ezeueil Garay, the Argentine defender who currently plays for Benfica. Reports have suggested that United have been monitoring Garay for sometime and the club look set to step up their interest soon by making a formal approach for the defender. Moyes may partner Garay with another centre back who is already at Old Trafford in Phil Jones and will hope that the two form the basis of the United defence for many years to come.

Gary Hooper- Celtic to QPR

Hooper is one of Scottish footballs most prolific strikers and he played a key role in helping Celtic win the Scottish Premier League last season. However, although his time at Celtic Park has been a success, Hooper wants to leave the club and return to England. Hooper only has one year remaining on his current contract at Celtic Park and has told the club that he has no intention of signing a contract extension. Hooper wants to return to England so that he can force his way into Roy Hodgson’s plans for the England team and believes that he has more chance of doing that in England and not Scotland. Many clubs have been linked with a move for Hooper but his most likely destination appears to be QPR, with Hoops manager Harry Redknapp hoping that Hooper can score the goals that will get the club back in the Premier League. The club are thought to be close to agreeing a £5 million fee with Celtic so it will all come down to whether or not Hooper wants to be playing in the Championship next season.

Leighton Baines- Everton to Manchester United

Baines is one of the most reliable full-backs currently playing in the Premier League and was a huge part of David Moyes squad at Everton. Now that the Scot has become manager of Manchester United, Baines looks set to join him at Old Trafford. The left-back was one of Moyes’s most trusted lieutenants at Everton and has become a fantastic player that is on the verge of being England’s first choice left back. Moyes has already made an offer for Baines, believed to be around £10 million but the Toffees rejected it, saying that the player isn’t for sale. Reports suggest that Everton value Baines at around £18 million, an amount many at United are unwilling to pay considering that the player is 28 and has no sell on value. However, Moyes needs to replace Patrice Evra sooner or later and he has already identified Baines as his first choice. United will come back to Everton with an improved bid, believed to be closer to Everton’s valuation but it won’t be £18 million. It may take Baines telling Everton that he wants to move to United for a deal to happen but the player is very loyal and is unlikely to do anything to upset his current employers.

Marouane Fellaini- Everton to Chelsea

Fellaini has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best central midfielders due to his power and versatility. The Belgian can play in a wide variety of different positions, from a deep lying defensive midfield role to an attacking midfielder who is playing just off of the striker. Fellaini also scores plenty of goals, many from corners and free kicks that he heads into the net with his power. Several Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for Fellaini this summer, with Chelsea thought to be his most likely destination. Jose Mourinho is hoping to re-build Chelsea’s midfield this summer, which was once incredibly powerful during his last spell at the club. Fellaini is exactly the type of powerful presence that the Blues need in the centre of their midfield and Mourinho is set to step up his attempts at signing the Belgian midfielder. It is thought that Fellaini has a buy out clause of £22 million in his contract at Everton and the Toffees certainly won’t sell one of their best players for anything less than that. So Chelsea will have to pay that to acquire Fellaini but it might be worth it in the long run if he continues to play like he has at Everton.

Darren Bent- Aston Villa to Newcastle United

Bent was once one of the Premier League’s most prolific goal scorers while at Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur but the striker has struggled to regain that same form while at Villa Park. For most of last season, Bent was placed on the bench by manager Paul Lambert, with the Scot preferring to use Christan Benteke up front.  That did pay off, with Benteke scoring 23 goals that helped keep Villa in the Premier League. The striker will almost certainly leave Villa Park this summer following his disappointing season at the villains and has even been told to stay away from the clubs pre-season training by Lambert. Newcastle appear to be Bent’s most likely destination, with manager Alan Pardew hoping to sign more players with Premier League experience. Villa were thought to be demanding around £8 million for Bent but have had lower their valuation to £5 million as clubs interested in the striker were unwilling to pay £8 million.

Gareth Bale- Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United

Bale had a fantastic season for Spurs, scoring 23 goals as the club narrowly missed out on a place in the Premier League’s top four. That also meant missing out on a place in the Champions League, a competition that Bale desperately wants to play in. Spurs failure to make it into the Champions League has led to speculation that the winger may leave the club this summer and sign for a club that is in the Champions League on a regular basis. Real Madrid were thought to be front-runners for Bale at the beginning of the summer but their interest has waned and they have turned their attentions to other targets. Manchester United now appear to be the most interested in signing Bale, with reports suggesting that the Red Devils are set to offer Tottenham £60 million for the winger. David Moyes is desperate to get his first season as United boss off to a good start and signing a big name player would help with that. Spurs don’t want let to Bale go and will try desperately to hang onto their star man but the player does want to play in the Champions League and Spurs can’t guarantee him that, while Manchester United can, meaning their is a good chance that Bale could be plying his trade at Old Trafford next season.
