Arsenal Strongly Linked With Move to Sign £43.5m Brazilian Trio: Report

Emirates Stadium side look to get summer spending underway.

Arsenal are eyeing up a trio of Brazilian internationals as Arsene Wenger looks to get his summer spending underway in earnest having thus far only brought in one addition this summer in the form of French youngster Yaya Sanogo.

The Gunners boss has set his sights on Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa according to Spanish source El Mundo Deportivo.

The €25m (£21m) rated forward has been something of a support striker at the Vicente Calderon and may have felt his chances of a more prominent role at Atletico Madrid had increased following Radamel Falcao’s departure to AS Monaco but Diego Simeone opted to bring in experienced Spaniard David Villa to beef up his attack.

Costa did manage to secure 36 starts in all competitions last season and racked up an impressive total of 20 goals in the process, being a pivotal member of the Copa del Rey winning side.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with interest in a myriad of star striker signings and could well feel the need to bring in alternatives to offer support for Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott in the Gunners attack.

Arsenal continue to pursue QPR keeper Julio Cesar despite apparent interest from Napoli, who are set to bring in Liverpool custodian Pepe Reina, according to the Daily Star.

The Emirates Stadium side have been linked with a £1.5m bid for the experienced custodian with Arsene Wenger looking for a steady option to keep young Pole Wojciech Szczesny on his toes.

QPR are looking to cut costs following relegation to the Championship and owner Tony Fernandes may well look to accept nominal offers for the former Inter Milan man just so that they can have Cesar’s £70k a week deal wiped off the balance sheet.

Arsenal have opened talks with Atletico Mineiro as the North London club look to land Brazilian international Bernard according to the Daily Mail.

It is believed that the North London club are ready to fork out the €25m (£21m) needed to lure the Atletico Mineiro man to the Premier League.

The pint sized playmaker, who plays predominantly on the left side of the midfield, was part of Brazil’s Confederations Cup winning squad and considered one of the hottest prospects in South American football.

Wenger has targeted a number of high profile additions, seemingly moving in close to deals to sign the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Marouane Fellaini however a move for young talent Bernard is perhaps more in keeping with the Gunners boss’s transfer policy.

The likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are expected to follow the likes of Andrei Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci, Denilson and Vito Mannone to the Arsenal exit.

Bernard has made 97 appearances for Belo Horizonte based side Atletico Mineiro, scoring 21 goals in the process.
