White Hart Lane side look to tempt DW Stadium into selling prized asset.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is ready to launch a potentially tempting bid for Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy according to the Daily Mirror.
The DW Stadium side are said to be looking to garner £20m from any potential sale of the Republic of Ireland international, a valuation that is certainly more than just a little inflated, however Villas-Boas will offer up to £12m plus a selection of players from which Owen Coyle can select as a possible makeweight in any deal.
England Under 21 striker Harry Kane will reportedly be made available as a potential addition to any deal whilst Sports Direct News claim Scott Parker or Tom Huddlestone could be included, two players who are better suited to directly replace McCarthy.
22 year old battler McCarthy has impressed during his four seasons at Wigan Athletic but may feel that now is the time to consider a move away from the Latics and will no doubt be keen on securing an instant Premier League return.
Villas-Boas is known for his willingness to trust to youth and McCarthy could perhaps offer a strong central midfield option for the Portuguese boss, though it is worth noting that Tottenham have the likes of new signing Paulinho, his Brazilian team-mate Sandro and Belgian Moussa Dembele to turn to, as well as young German Lewis Holtby.
