Tottenham Boss Andre Villas-Boas Rubbishes Reports That Gareth Bale Is Close To Securing Real Madrid Switch

Midfielder’s future lies at White Heart Lane says boss.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has rushed to deny claims that star midfielder Gareth Bale is on the verge of joining Real Madrid and has insisted that his future remains at White Heart Lane, talkSPORT reports.

Earlier today Spanish newspaper Marca had claimed that Bale was on the verge of agreeing a six year deal with Los Blancos and that he had told Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he wanted out of the club.

However, manager Andre Villas-Boas doesn’t see it that way and has other ideas over what the future has in store for the 24-year-old.

“On Gareth I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of pre-season so I cannot extend myself,” he said.

“He’s a player that we are willing to continue to have, he’s a Tottenham player, he’s one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future.

“Unfortunately against Sunderland he won’t be fit to play, he’s recovering from a knock he had in training so we expect him hopefully to have some involvement in the second game.”

The manager also confirmed that full back Danny Rose will be at the club next season after speculation had him linked with a return to the northeast with Sunderland after the 23-year-old made 29 appearances for Paolo Di Canio’s men, scoring one goal.

“Danny has had an excellent season. He’s one of the players that we all want for our future,” Villas-Boas said.

“It was one of those occasions where it’s all worked out extremely well for him and he will definitely be part of our squad this season.

“Credit to him for making it work. This year he’ll want to be involved with Tottenham and hopefully he’ll have a big future ahead of him.”
