20 Deals That Could Be Completed During the Summer Transfer Window

Moves that could be signed and sealed before the transfer window slams shut on September 2nd.

Several big transfers have already been completed this summer but with over half of the transfer window to go, their is still plenty of business to be done. Here are twenty transfers that could be completed this summer.

Bafetimbi Gomis- Lyon to Newcastle United or Tottenham Hotspur

The striker has been one of Lyon’s most consistent performers for many years now but his time at the French club looks to over. Gomis only has one year remaining on his contract at Lyon and he has made it clear to the French club that he won’t be signing a contract extension with them. This means that Lyon need to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free next year. A move to the Premier League looks like the most likely destination for Gomis, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur known to be interested in the striker. Both clubs are looking for a top quality striker to strengthen their attack this summer and feel that Gomis could offer them plenty of goals. Although Spurs can offer Gomis more money, Newcastle can offer him first team football, meaning the choice of which club to choose is a difficult one for the striker.

Darren Bent- Aston Villa to Newcastle United or Fulham

Bent has had a frustrating time at Villa Park, spending most of last season on the bench with manager Paul Lambert preferring to use Christan Benteke in attack. It now appears that Bent’s Aston Villa career is over, with Lambert telling him that he won’t play for the club again. Their are no shortage of potential suitors for Bent, who was once one of the Premier League’s most prolific marksmen. Newcastle United have been interested in Bent for awhile, with Alan Pardew seeing the striker as the ideal man to replace Demba Ba, who left the Magpies for Chelsea in January. Fulham have recently entered the race to sign Bent, with Martin Jol interested in partnering the Englishman with Dimitar Berbatov next season.

Christan Eriksen- Ajax to Liverpool or AC Milan

Eriksen has long been regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting young player makers and has been linked with a move away from Ajax for many summers now. It appears that it is this summer that Eriksen could depart the Dutch giants, with the Danish national coach encouraging the player to leave Holland and play in a more competitive league. A move to the Premier League has long been mooted for Eriksen, with Liverpool thought to be the most interested in acquiring the Dane. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers feels that Eriksen could fit in well with the clubs style of play and would hopefully push Liverpool towards the Premier League’s top four. AC Milan are reportedly rivalling Liverpool for Eriksen and some reports suggest that the player would rather move to Serie A with the Italian giants.

Hulk- Zenit St Petersburg to Chelsea

Many thought that Hulk would move to one of Europe’s top clubs last summer but instead he made the move to Russia, joining Zenit St Petersburg for £35 million. Unfortunately, Hulk has struggled to settle in Russia and is now looking to move away from Zenit. Chelsea appear to be his most likely destination, with Jose Mourinho keen to sign a strong, physical front man that will lead the Blues front-line next season. Hulk has already admitted that he has held talks with Chelsea over a move to Stamford Bridge and would dearly love to join Mourinho in the Premier League. However, Zenit are thought to be demanding close to £50 million for the striker as they want to make a profit on a player they only signed last summer. Chelsea are unwilling to pay that much, so plenty of negotiations will be needed before a transfer can be completed.

Demba Ba- Chelsea to West Ham

Ba has only spent a few months at Stamford Bridge and already it looks like he could be on the way out of the club. The striker scored some exceptional goals for Chelsea since he joined them from Newcastle in the January transfer window but has failed to hold down a regular starting spot at the club. With Jose Mourinho looking to strengthen his forwards this summer, a place in the reserves looks likely for Ba unless he moves on. West Ham are thought to be interested in signing Ba, with Sam Allardyce hoping to partner the striker with Andy Carroll next season. However, the Hammers will face competition from Anzhi Makhachkala, who are ready to offer Ba huge wages in a bid to lure him to Russia.

Ashley Williams- Swansea City to Arsenal

Williams played a pivotal role in Swansea’s excellent 2012/2013 campaign, leading the Swans to League Cup victory in February and helping the club to finish 9th in the Premier League. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed however, with several Premier League clubs interested in signing the centre back this summer. Favourites to land the Welshman are Arsenal, with manager Arsene Wenger looking to strengthen his back-line with captain Thomas Vermaelen set to miss the start of the new season. Williams is thought to be interested in a move to the Emirates but Swansea demanded £10 million for their captain, an amount Wenger was unwilling to pay. However, reports suggest that the Swans have soften their stance on Williams and will accept around £8.5 million. The defender has made it clear that he wants to play at the top level before he gets to old and could look forward to Champions League football with the Gunners next season.

Luis Suarez- Liverpool to Arsenal or Real Madrid

The Uruguay international is Liverpool’s only world class player and was one of the only bright lights in a disappointing campaign for the Reds. This despite the fact that Suarez is currently serving a ten match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a Premier League match. That game maybe Suarez last in a Liverpool shirt, with the striker set to leave Anfield this summer. Suarez has said that he wants to leave the club and move to a team that is playing in the Champions League. Arsenal and Real Madrid are both interested in the striker, with the Gunners currently front-runners. Arsenal have already had two bids turned down by Liverpool for Suarez but it is thought that they will up their bid for the player, especially if the striker submits a transfer request, which many pundits are expecting him to do.

Leighton Baines- Everton to Manchester United

Baines is one of the most highly-rated full backs currently playing in the Premier League and has been one of Everton’s key players for many years now. His former manager David Moyes has recently replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and the Scot is hoping to bring the full back with him to Old Trafford. Baines was one of Moyes most trusted lieutenants while he was at Everton and the Scot would feel much more comfortable having Baines with him in Manchester. The Red Devils recently offered Everton around £10 million for Baines but that was rejected by the Toffees. Reports suggest that United will return to Goodison Park with an improved bid but Everton are thought to be demanding £18 million for the full back, an amount that many at United will be unwilling to pay for a player that is 29 in December.

Marouane Fellaini- Everton to Manchester United or Arsenal

Fellaini has been one the Premier League’s most impressive central midfielders ever since he signed for Everton from Standard Liege. The Belgian has everything that a manager desires from a midfielder, versatility, strength and goals. This is why he is so highly sought after this summer, with Manchester United and Arsenal both chasing his signature. United boss David Moyes worked closely with Fellaini during his time at Everton and would like the opportunity to bring him to Old Trafford while Arsenal hope that the Belgian will fill the void that was left behind by Patrick Viera. The Gunners have missed a physical central midfielder ever since Viera left in 2005 and many feel that Fellaini can give the Gunners midfielder the strength that it needs. Fellaini has a buy-out clause, thought to be £23.5 million but that expires at the end of July, meaning United and Arsenal need to hurry up and make a move or risk missing out on the Belgian.

Daivd Luiz- Chelsea to Barcelona or Paris St Germain

Luiz has been a frustrating figure at Stamford Bridge ever since he arrived from Benfica in 2011. The defender is blessed with a huge amount of talent but is yet to fully realise his potential. Luiz often likes to get forward and start attacks but that leaves he side vulnerable if he loses procession. Jose Mourinho likes to have reliable defenders in his sides and reports suggest that he is ready to cash in on the unpredictable Brazilian. Both Barcelona and PSG are thought to be interested in signing Luiz as they feel that his tendency to get forward can be a positive thing. Chelsea are likely to demand around £30 million for the defender who could still be moulded into a quality centre back.

Thiago Silva- Paris St Germain to Barcelona

Silva is regarded as one of the best centre backs in Europe, a strong defender who can read the game well. He choose to join PSG last summer over Barcelona but the Catalan club believe that they can persuade the Brazilian to join them this time around. One of the reasons for Silva choosing PSG over Barcelona was that Carlo Ancelotti was manager of the French club. The Italian has now left Paris to manage Real Madrid, leaving Silva uncertain about whether he wants to stay with the French Champions. Barcelona are desperate to sign a quality centre back this summer and have identified Silva as the man they need to strengthen their defence. However, it won’t be easy with PSG not wanting to sell and Silva having very high wages.

Yohan Cabaye- Newcastle United to Manchester United or Paris St Germain

Cabaye is regarded as one of the best passes currently playing in the Premier League and had a wonderful campaign for Newcastle during the 2011/2012 season. The 2012/2013 season wasn’t quite as successful, with Newcastle coming close to being relegated from the Premier League. Cabaye is still rated highly however but it seems that his days at St James’s Park are over. The midfielder wants to move away from Newcastle, to a club that is playing in the Champions League. He recently said that he would interested in playing for Manchester United and reports suggest that the Red Devils are interested in signing him. A move back to France is also on the cards for Cabaye, with PSG looking to strengthen their midfield by signing the former Rennes player.

Loic Remy- QPR to Newcastle United or West Ham

Many QPR fans hoped that the signing of Remy would lead the Hoops to Premier League survival. That didn’t happen, with the club falling down the Premier League’s trap door into the Championship. Although QPR boss Harry Redknapp would like to keep Remy at the club, it seems that the Frenchman doesn’t want to play in England’s second tier, especially as it is a World Cup year and he wants to represent France in Brazil next summer. Newcastle and West Ham are both interested in signing the dynamic French striker and would be willing to pay the £8 million needed to lure him away from Loftus Road. Newcastle appear to be favourites at the moment due to the contingent of French players currently at St James’s Park.

Julio Cesar- QPR to Arsenal

Cesar was one of the few players to have a strong 2012/2013 campaign, making several stunning saves that kept QPR in several crucial games. However, like Remy, Cesar doesn’t want to be playing in the Championship and QPR appear eager to sell the goalkeeper as his sale would take a sizeable chunk off of their wage budget. A move to Arsenal appears most likely for Cesar, who would like to stay in London as he has settled in the capital. The Gunners want to sign an experienced goalkeeper for the coming Premier League seasons and feel that Cesar would be ideal. However, Arsenal want the Brazilian to lower his wage demands before any deal can be completed and Cesar may have to comply with their demands if he wants to play for a Champions League club next season.

Daniele De Rossi- Roma to Chelsea

De Rossi is without doubt one of the finest central midfielders in the world, having been a rock in Roma’s midfield for many seasons. However, following a difficult season at the Stadio Olimpico, the midfielder could decide to move away from Italy. The midfielder spent large parts of last season on the bench following a falling out with the clubs coach and is considering whether to move away from his boy hood club. Chelsea are very interested in signing the Italian, with Jose Mourinho being a huge admirer. The Portuguese manager wants to make de Rossi the centre of Chelsea’s new look midfield next season and the Italian is thought to be thinking about moving to Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid and PSG are also understood to be monitoring the situation involving the midfielder.

Bernard- Atletico Miniero to Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham

Bernard is thought to be one of Brazilian footballs most exciting young prospects and played a key role his country’s Confederations Cup victory. It now appears that Bernard is destined to join so many of his Brazilian team mates in Europe and a move to the Premier League is thought to be his most likely destination. Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are thought to rate the midfielder and are preparing bids to try and bring the midfielder to England. Arsenal appear to be front runners at this stage as they can offer Bernard Champions League football next season and also have plenty of money to spend on wages, with the club having their biggest ever transfer budget this summer.

Roberto Soldado- Valencia to Tottenham or Liverpool

Soldado is one of Spanish footballs most prolific strikers and is a firm fan favourite at Valencia. However, it appears that Soldado is considering a move away from Spain this summer, with the Premier League his most likely destination. Tottenham are front runners in the race to sign Soldado, having sent their technical director Franco Baldini out to Spain to negotiate a deal with Valencia. Spurs have missed out on several striking targets this summer and want to make sure they don’t miss out on Soldado. However, Valencia are playing hard ball over the strikers asking price and won’t sell him for less than £25 million. Spurs are unwilling to pay that and have kept their £22 million on the table. Liverpool are also interested in the striker and see him as the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez.

Gareth Bale- Tottenham to Real Madrid or Manchester United

Bale was fantastic for Spurs last season, scoring 23 Premier League goals. However, despite his efforts, the club missed out on a place in the Champions League and because of that, speculation has mounted that the Welshman could leave White Hart Lane this summer. Real Madrid have made no secret of their desire to sign Bale and reports suggest that the Spanish giants are willing to pay a world record £85 million to sign the winger. Manchester United are also interested in Bale, with David Moyes hoping to get his first season as United boss off to a good start by signing a marquee player. However, Spurs don’t want to sell their star player, with chairman Daniel Levy determined to keep Bale at White Hart Lane for at least another season. Reports suggest that Spurs have offered Bale a new contract which the player will mull over during the next few days.

Cesc Fabregas- Barcelona to Manchester United

Fabregas had spent most of the summer saying that he wants to stay at Barcelona. However, over the past few days reports have surfaced suggesting the Spanish midfielder is considering a move away from the Spanish Champions. His most likely destination is Manchester United, with David Moyes eager to re-enforce his midfield with the former Arsenal captain. United have already submitted two bids for Fabregas, both of them rejected by Barcelona. However, the Red Devils are set to make one final bid for the midfielder, thought to be around £35 million. It could be very tempting for Barcelona to accept as they need to raise funds to sign a quality central defender this summer. The decision could be in the hands of Fabregas who has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at the Nou Camp ever since he arrived from Arsenal two years ago. The midfielder wants to play regularly, especially in a world cup year and should Barca accept United’s final offer, he may get that at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney- Manchester United to Chelsea

Rooney has spent nine silverware laden years at Manchester United but it appears that his time at the club could be coming to an end. The striker has been unsettled at the club for the past few months, with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson leaving him out of crucial games. He has also fallen out with the clubs new boss, David Moyes, following comments the Scot made about Rooney being second choice striker behind Robin Van Persie. It appears that Rooney’s relationship with United is broken beyond repair and many pundits are predicting that he will swap Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge this summer. Jose Mourinho is desperate to add a quality striker to his Chelsea squad this summer and has moved to sign Rooney after missing out on Falcao and Edinson Cavani. The Blues have already had a bid for Rooney rejected by United but reports suggest that the club are preparing an improved offer, despite United’s constant statements reiterating that the England international is not for sale.
