Former French ace insists club will get their man.
Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has told Tottenham Hotspur that Spanish giants will not give up on their pursuit of Gareth Bale this summer, and are set to step up their already relentless chase of the Welsh international, talkSPORT reports.
Madrid have apparently already seen one world record bid for the 24-year-old turned down by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, but Zidane, who is now Real’s sporting director, has warned the Premier League side that there will be more twists and turns to come after the player seemingly admitted that he is keen on a switch to the Spanish capital.
Though the former French international has said that the saga could be set for a slow conclusion as Real look to ‘protect their relationship’ with the north London outfit.
“We will not give up on Gareth Bale,” Zidane told French football website Le 10 Sport. “It is normal that Tottenham want to keep him and make him sign a new contract, but it is impossible to forget a player of his quality.”
But he added that Real Madrid has “a very good relationship with Tottenham and we must go slowly.”
Zidane has spent the past few weeks flying between London and Madrid in order to try and broker a deal but to no avail.
