Danish starlet to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical on Merseyside on Friday.
Liverpool are on the verge of sealing a move for coveted Ajax midfield player Christian Eriksen after reportedly agreeing an £18 million fee with the Eredivisie champions for their star man.
The Merseyside giants have been keeping close tabs on a number of attacking midfield targets throughout the entire summer transfer window as head coach Brendan Rodgers prepares for life at Anfield without wantaway front man Luis Suarez next season.
In fact, only recently the Northern Irishman told the London Evening Standard that: “”We probably need a bit more support – that extra bit of quality – at the top end of the field and that’s something we’ll look out for.”
However, having missed out on first-choice attacking target Henrik Mkrtchyan after the Armenia international opted to join Borussia Dortmund instead for £23.6m earlier this month, Rodgers has since turned his focus back to the twinkle-toed Denmark international.
Eriksen, whose current contract at the Amsterdam ArenA runs only until June 30 2014, has so far steadfastly refused to put pen to paper on the new deal that the Dutch giants have had on the table for him since the turn of the year in the hope of sealing his dream move to Anfield.
And now it appears as though those hopes have been fulfilled after the Reds and Ajax reached an agreement late on Wednesday night in London over the transfer of the 21-year-old, with the player himself now expected to travel to Merseyside on Friday to discuss personal terms on a five-year, £80,000-per-week deal and undergo a medical.
