Big Sam looking to add just one more player this summer.
West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is looking just one more player to the club’s ranks before the season kicks off on August 17, Sky Sports reports.
The east London outfit have already brought goalkeeper Adrian, full-back Razvan Rat and midfielder Danny Whitehead have all moved to Upton Park whilst they have smashed their transfer record to bring in Andy Carroll from Liverpool.
And Allardyce spoke of his delight at being able to add those players to his roster, concluding that the side needs just one more piece to complete the puzzle.
“This has been one of the quietest summers I’ve had,” he said. “We have done some good business.
“Andy Carroll has come in, we’ve got a new goalkeeper in Adrian from Real Betis, who seems to be settling in very well, and Razvan Rat will help strengthen the defence.”
That one player is most likely going to be a striker to help Andy Carroll carry the goalscoring burden after Carlton Cole was released by the club at the end of last season.
The club have pulled out of a deal to sign Estudiantes striker Duvan Zapata as he failed to qualify for a work permit, though they are still said to be interested in Lille forward Solomon Kalou.
“We’re looking at securing one more player within the budget we’ve got this summer, and hopefully that will make us a little bit better than last season,” he said.
