Tottenham Target Six In Summer Spending Spree Funded By £105m from Gareth Bale Sale

White Hart Lane side ready to splash out on new additions if prized asset is sold.

If Tottenham do relent and accept a mammoth offer from Real Madrid for prized asset Gareth Bale it appears that Andre Villas-Boas will then look to invest most of that sum in the pursuit of some top notch additions.

The Daily Mirror lists six targets on the White Hart Lane shopping list, all of whom could be brought in using the reported £105m the North London side are looking to receive from Spanish giants Real Madrid for Bale, and still have money left over.

Tottenham could certainly do with further striking additions even after the club record capture of Spaniard Roberto Soldado and with that in mind this source claims that QPR striker Loic Remy is very high up on the club’s shopping list.

The Loftus Road side may well feel the need to remove the big earners from their wage bill as they prepare for life in the Championship and the £8m price-tag seems a very fair one given the form shown by the former Marseille man in the English top tier last term.

The 26 year old netted six goals in 14 appearances last term, this despite his side finishing rock bottom of the table. With Emmanuel Adebayor suffering a severe drop in form last term and Jermain Defoe managing just one goal in his last 15 Premier League fixtures there is definitely scope for improvement.

Villas-Boas is also looking to add more creativity to his midfield and has earmarked a move for Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen.

The 21 year old has just a year to run on his current deal and could be picked up for a very affordable £15m. The Danish international is an assist making machine and after three straight Eredivisie titles the young playmaker would probably jump at the chance of a new challenge.

Another target is said to be Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman who’s direct running scared the life out of Premier League defences last term. The 22 year old impressed many during his breakthrough season and having helped the Latics to secure an FA Cup triumph the 22 year old will not be all that keen on Championship football.

The departure of Roberto Martinez may well make it even harder for the Latics to keep hold of their star turns, Arouna Kone having already left for Everton, and this source believes McManaman can be Tottenham’s for just £6m.

Another playmaker said to be on Tottenham’s radar is Bosnian international Miralem Pjanic.

The 23 year old is known to new technical director Franco Baldini, who is well aware of the Bosnian’s capabilities from his own time at the club.

Given that Roma have brought in new boss Rudi Garcia there is perhaps just enough uncertainty at the Stadio Olimpico to warrant a move for the former Lyon man, not least because Roma failed to secure even a Europa League spot for this campaign.

Pjanic has already racked up over 200 top tier appearances and could provide Villas-Boas’s side with a new dimension and an ideal link between midfield and attack, very handy at set-pieces to boot.

Villas-Boas also has his sights set on another Roma star with Argentine forward Erik Lamela who matured from a unpredictable attacker capable of occasionally pulling off a mazy dribble to a player who can effectively provide an end product on a regular basis.

Lamela, who is well known for his ability to beat his man and has exceptional pace, scored 15 goals last season from 33 appearances.

The last of this half dozen Tottenham targets is perhaps the one that would cost the biggest sum to secure. Argentine international Javier Pastore was one of the early arrivals at PSG during the club’s push to spend their way back to the top of Ligue 1.

The former Palermo man has had an up and down time of it, netting 16 goals in his first season at the Parc des Princes and then just four in 33 Ligue 1 fixtures as Carlo Ancelotti’s side romped to the title.

The stylish rangy attacking midfielder won’t come cheap but given the amount of money Tottenham are likely to make from Gareth Bale’s potential sale one would imagine that his price-tag will not be an issue.
