Five Big Premier League Deals That Could be Completed This Week

Moves that are due to be signed and sealed in the coming week.

With under a month to go in the summer transfer window, Premier League clubs are working day and night to complete deals which will hopefully see them progress in the upcoming Premier League season. Here are five deals which are set to be complete in the next week.

Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid to Liverpool

The 24-year old Brazilian has had his release clause activated by Liverpool, believed to be in the region of £20million according to Sky Sports. The forward is set for discussions with Reds regarding personal terms and a medical before his move to Merseyside becomes official. Costa has the versatility to play across the forward line, and Liverpool are adamant they are bringing him in to complement Luis Suarez in the Liverpool attack. The striker also has an offer from Italian side AS Roma, according to Spanish source El Confidencial, but will snub their interest as he has his heart set on furthering his career in England.

Loic Remy, QPR to Newcastle

The French striker snubbed a move to Tyneside last January in favour of a move to London with QPR, but the Hoops were eventually relegated to the Championship, putting his future at the club in doubt. A reported £2million loan fee is being demanded by QPR, as their star man failed to feature in their opening fixture of the season against Sheffield Wednesday. The Express claim that a deal will be announced in the next 48 hours, after club Director of Football Joe Kinnear revealed that the Toon ‘are very, very close’ to agreeing a deal with QPR. Looking for a striker partner for Papiss Cisse, Loic Remy’s entrance at the Sports Direct Arena will hopefully propel Newcastle in the right direction this season.

Roberto Soldado, Valencia to Tottenham

The 28-year old striker is on the verge of joining Tottenham this summer, after the two clubs agreed a £26million fee for his services, activating his release clause. Having flown in for a medical this week, the club should announce the signing in the next 48 hours, unless there is a hiccup in the later stages. With 80 goals since 2010 for Valencia, Soldado is the most prolific Spanish forward over that time span, and will join a Tottenham set up primed for mounting a serious title challenge, they hope. Coming in as the likely starter in their line-up, Soldado will be a great addition to their squad which is lacking in depth and quality up front.

Gareth Bale, Tottenham to Real Madrid

This on-going transfer saga looks set to be completed before the start of the Premier League season, as the clubs enter negotiations and draw closer to reaching an agreement for Bale’s transfer. Daniel Levy is demanding £100million for his prized asset, which Real Madrid would either like to reduce by including a player in the deal, with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Angel Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao all being mentioned as possible make-weights in a deal, or spreading the deal out over a number of years making annual payments to Tottenham. Bale missed Spurs’ latest preseason clash against Monaco, leading to speculation about his future.

Etienne Capoue, Toulouse to Cardiff City

The Frenchman was a former target of Arsenal’s, but Malky Mackay revealed last week that the club and the Ligue 1 outfit had come to an agreement for the transfer of Capoue this summer. Since then talks have been on-going, and the two parties are reportedly closing in on an agreement on personal terms. The Blue Birds are looking to bulk up their midfield with the addition of Capoue so they can compete in the Premier League against some of the stronger midfield units. The defensive midfielder would provide excellent cover at the back, as the key to Premier League survival is a good defensive record. Understood to be a club record fee agreed, exceeding £8million, Cardiff are showing no fear this summer and are spending big to ensure Premier League survival.
