Exclusive: Chelsea Boss Plans £42m Real Madrid Pair Raid

Mourinho to return for former stars.

New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to return to Real Madrid with £42 million in his back pocket ready to spend on duo Sami Khedira and Alvaro Morata.

CaughtOffside understands that Mourinho had already spelled out his desire to bring the German international Khedira with him to Stamford Bridge this summer before he’d been announced as the manager of the west London outfit and has now told owner Roman Abramovic to open the chequebook and splash out on him.

The 26-year-old has figured consistently in the manager’s plans since making the switch from Stuttgart after the World Cup in 2010. Many scratched their heads at the time, fearing that limited game time could mean that he wouldn’t make the most out of his potential.

However, three years later and he’s made 126 appearances for Los Blancos.

Chelsea are thought to be keen on adding a touch of class to the midfield, not that they lack any, but with Frank Lampard now finally entering his final year at the club, Mourinho want’s a player in the middle with a calm head and a self assuredness to keep the ball and use it wisely.

His vision and range of passing could be crucial in adding a few more onto the ‘goals scored’ tally and any new striker would surely relish latching onto the end of his passes.

Mourinho is also keen on bringing young striker Alvaro Morata on board to add weight to the side’s attack.

Chelsea are already stocked up front with Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku and Andre Schurrle all vying for a place, but with either Ba or Torres said to be moving on soon, Morata would provide able back up for whoever is left.

The manager is a known fan of the 20-year-old, overseeing his rise from the club’s B team to make his debut back in 2010. However, it was last season that saw him begin to establish himself as he bagged two goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.

Though he may be a little wet behind the ears, Mourinho saw enough of him to trust and furthermore, he can offer Chelsea something different to what they already have.

At 6’3 Morata is able to hold up the ball and be dominant from ariel positions, which is something not many in the Chelsea team are able to offer. Often compared to former Real legend Fernando Morientes, he can also provide excellent movement as well as a clinical finishing ability.
