Top 10 La Liga Signings Of the Summer Thus Far

A rundown of the top ten signings in La Liga so far this summer.

10. Jose Angel – Roma to Real Sociedad

The Basque side are gearing up for another season where they hope to follow up their strong finish to the previous campaign, and they’ve kicked off their recruitment programme with the signing of Roma young left back. Angel was once of Sporting Gijon and will be hoping to impress whilst back home.

9. Marko Marin – Chelsea to Sevilla (loan)

The German attacker will be looking to take this loan spell by the throat as he hopes to rebuild his career after a stuttering year at Chelsea. He will be expected to play a key role in the Spanish side’s rebuilding process.

8. Sergio Arsenjo – Atletico Madrid to Villarreal

A promising goalkeeper, who has seen his progress hit by the likes of David De Gea and Thibaut Courtois in recent years. He will now look to show what he can do with recently promoted Villarreal.

7. Yacine Brahimi – Rennes to Grenada

The highly rated young Frenchman has been snapped up by the Pozzo family where he will now star for Grenada in the hope of keeping them in the top flight.

6. Roque Santa Cruz – Manchester City to Malaga

The Paraguayan has joined Malaga permanently after spending the previous campaign on loan there. He will be looking to add to his less than impressive record of eight league goals in 31 appearances, though.

5. Dani Carvajal – Bayer Leverkusen to Real Madrid

The capital based giants had the good sense to add a buy back clause when they sold the 21-year-old to Leverkusen back in 2012 and he has impressed enough in the Bundesliga to warrant a move back to his boyhood club.

4. Kevin Gameiro – PSG to Sevilla

The speedy forward has been given the unenviable task of replacing Alvaro Negredo following his move to Manchester City. However, it will be a task the Frenchman will relish after being frozen out of the PSG side last season.

3. Isco – Malaga to Real Madrid

Real did well to grab the 21-year-old from Manchester City’s clutches as it looked like he would be leaving to join up with former boss Manuel Pellegrini. A star of the future no doubt, but he’ll have to work hard to get in the starting line up this year.

2. David Villa – Barcelona to Atletico Madrid

Quite possibly the bargain of the century, Villa’s move to Atletico cost less that what some players in the league now earn in wages. Still capable at getting into double figures in terms of goals, Atletico fans will soon be asking; ‘Radamel who?’

1. Neymar – Santos to Barcelona

The most marketable player in the world right now has joined the most marketable club, and together they are being expected to continue their domination of Spanish football. However, question marks have been raised over how he will play alongside Lionel Messi.
