The big news coming from the Wales camp is that Gareth Bale won’t be involved. The 24-year-old is currently in the midst of a transfer tug-of-war between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, and though he has seemingly recovered with enough time from a foot injury to be included in the squad, the FAW have decided that he should sit this sone out.

Aaron Ramsey (ankle) and James Collins (knee) will also miss the encounter.

Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has named almost a completely changed side from the one that faces Spain in June with just Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy being the sole survivors.

Shane Long will lead the attack whilst there is another opportunity for Wes Hoolahan, who gets the nod ahead of Wigan new boy James McClean.

Robbie Brady has been given a spot on the wing, and Kiaran Westwood takes over in between the sticks for the injured David Forde.

For many of the recent additions it is their final chance to impress ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria next month.
