West Ham Line Up Audacious Loan Swoop for Unsettled Chelsea Striker

Hammers hope to land Senegalese on a season-long loan.

West Ham United head coach Sam Allardyce is interested in signing unwanted Chelsea front man Demba Ba this summer, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The Senegal international has only been at Stamford Bridge since the turn of the year, with the 28-year-old having arrived in west London from Newcastle United on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

However, the giant striker managed to find the back of the net on just six occasions in his 22 matches for the Blues in total in all competitions in that time, including only two in his 14 Premier League outings for the club.

And now with returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho set to bring in either Wayne Rooney from Manchester United or Samuel Eto’o from Anzhi Makhachkala before the summer transfer window slams shut for the year on Sept 2, Ba’s long-term future in the capital very much remains open to debate.

But Allardyce is now looking to provide the Senegalese an escape route from Chelsea in the new campaign, if only for a season-long loan, with Ba having already played for the Hammers for 13 matches in the second half of the 2010-11 campaign, scoring seven goals in the process for the east London outfit.
