Old Trafford side to sell striker.
Man United are set to give in to Wayne Rooney’s exit demands and grant the England international an Old Trafford exit this summer according to Sports Direct News.
The 27 year old striker has been strongly linked with a move away from Man United since the end of last season, when he is alleged to have made a verbal transfer request, David Moyes has since frozen Rooney out of the club’s pre-season friendly activity and will now look to sell the forward.
Rooney was used in a withdrawn attacking role last term, to make way for Dutch international Robin Van Persie, and at times found himself out of the starting eleven entirely, most tellingly when Sir Alex Ferguson left the former Everton man out of his team for the crucial second leg encounter with Real Madrid.
If Man United are really ready to sell Rooney then there will be no shortage of interest in the striker, who is the club’s fourth highest goal-scorer of all time, Chelsea appear to be favourites to sign the attacker though one wonders if David Moyes would be willing to sell to a direct rival.
Rooney has scored 197 goals in 401 appearances for Man United since signing for the club back in the summer of 2004.
