Arsenal are said to be scouting highly rated Dutch youngster Georginio Wijnaldum according to Sports Direct News.

Arsene Wenger sent scouts to monitor the PSV Eindhoven attack during Holland’s friendly with Portugal earlier this week and had chief scout Steve Rowley tracking the former Feyenoord man last term.

The 22 year old has impressed since moving to the Philips Stadion, scoring 35 goals in his two seasons at PSV and Wenger may feel that the cultured forward would suit his side’s style of play.

Wijnaldum can play either on the wing or in an advanced central midfield role and having seen a number of his team-mates league PSV this summer, Kevin Strootman and Dries Mertens moving to Roma and Napoli respectively, the youngster may feel tempted by the chance of a move to the Premier League.

As well as failing to spend a single penny on new additions this summer, with the club’s only signing coming in the form of a free transfer deal to bring in French forward Yaya Sanogo, Arsene Wenger has trimmed a great deal of deadwood from his squad, which has left the North London side’s attacking options looking decidedly thin following the departures of the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho and Andrei Arshavin.
